Discussion: Hershkovitz (1992 a) restricted the Didelphinae to the genera Chironectes , Didelphis , Philander , and Lutreolina . Hershkovitz (1997) further restricted the Didelphinae by establishing Chironectinae and Lutreolininae for Chironectes and Lutreolina , respectively.
