Zamarada euryscaphes Prout 1915 View in CoL
( Figs 32 View FIGURES 26–33 , 53 View FIGURES 48–54 )
Zamarada euryscaphes Prout, 1915: 345 View in CoL . Locus typicus: Eritrea: Asmara, 20.x.1905 (N. Beccari) (Holotype ♀ in NHMUK).
Zamarada iobathra Prout, 1932: 507 View in CoL . Locus typicus: Kenya: Pori, Mbuyuni, 1110 m, iii.1912 (Alluaud & Jeannel) (Holotype ♀ in MNHN). Herewith downgraded from species rank ( Fletcher 1974) to subspecies of Z. euryscaphes View in CoL ( Z. euryscaphes iobathra Prout, 1932 View in CoL , stat. n.) based on genetical identity of Kenyan populations with the nominotypical populations of northern Ethiopia and Erithrea. Potential downgrading was earlier suggested by Fletcher (1974) based on study of the type specimens.
Zamarada polyctemon Prout, 1932a: 248 View in CoL . Locus typicus: ‚Zaire‘ (D.R. Congo): Kafakumba 1929 (Holotype ♀ without abdo-men in MRAC Tervuren). Herewith downgraded from species rank ( Fletcher 1974) to subspecies of Z. euryscaphes View in CoL ( Z. euryscaphes polyctemon Prout, 1932 View in CoL , stat. n.) based on genetical identity of all populations around the country of type locality with the nominotypical populations as circumscribed above. Potential downgrading was earlier suggested by Fletcher (1974) based on study of the type specimens.
Literature records. Forêt de Wadera ( Herbulot, 1977, listed under the name ‚ Z. iobathra View in CoL ‘). Asmara ( Fletcher 1974), reported as ‚Ethiopia‘ though being in Eritrea.
Examined material. 1Ƌ: S. Genetic data. BIN BOLD:AAM0109 (n=1 from Ethiopia; n=7 from Sierra Leone, Cameroon, Kenya, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Zambia; maximum variation 0.5%). Nearest species: Z. calypso (4.5%).
Distribution. Nominotypical subspecies in Eritrea, Ethiopia, Democratic Republic of the Congo, Cameroon, Togo, Senegal, (cfr. Fletcher 1974; Herbulot 1977; Sircoulomb 2007, 2009); Z. e. iobathra in Kenya, northern Tanzania (Arusha region: Prout 1932, Aarvik & Bjørnstad 2007); Z. e. polyctemon in Angola, Malawi, Tanzania (except north), Zambia, Zimbabwe (cfr. Fletcher 1974; Sircoulomb 2007; Joly et al. 2008). New for the fauna of Sierra Leone.
Remarks. In external appearance one specimen is reminiscent of the figure of iobathra in Fletcher (1974) , the others are similar to the figure of the Ethiopian euryscaphes .
