Xenopygus punctatus (Sharp) , new combination

Gastrisus cribrum Fauvel, 1891: 107 new synonymy. Xenopygus petilicolis Caron and Castro, 2016: 75 new synonymy.

Type material. Holotype of Gastrisus punctatus , male, with labels: “Type [round label with red border]” / “Amazons, S. Paulo” / “S. America, Brazil” / “Sharp Coll. 1905-313” / “ Gastrisus punctatus ♂ Type D.S.”. Deposited in BMNH. Holotype of Gastrisus cribrum , female, with labels: “San Esteban [Venezuela], E. Simon III.[18]88” / “ cribrum Fvl. ” / “R. I. Sc.N.B. 17.479 Coll. et det A. Fauvel”. In the collection of IRSNB. Type materials for X. petilicolis as indicated in Caron et al. (2016).

Remarks. It is worth pointing out that Sharp (1876) and Fauvel (1891) had each indicated that the species they were describing as new was similar in head structure to Xenopygus analis .
