MycoBank number: MB 831350

Etymology: In reference to the tubular apical apparatus.

Holotype: GACP QR0111 About GACP

Saprobic on dead wood of bamboo. Sexual morph: No subiculum observed. Stromata scattered or gregarious, solitary, superficial, pulvinate to hexagonal prism, having the coronate with the outer stroma remaining as a ragged ‘crown’ around the inner stroma black, carbonaceous, 400–750 µm diam., 350–550 µm high, containing a single perithecium; Surface convex or flattened, dark, smooth, with a central papilla and ostiole. External stromatal layer black, carbonaceous, easily chipped away to reveal the thin, black perithecium. Ostioles papillate on the central, black. Paraphyses 3–5 μm wide, hyaline, septate, branched. Asci 181–235 × 22–35 µm (x =213 × 26 µm, n=30), 8-spored, unitunicate, short-stipitate, apically rounded with a J+, tubular apical apparatus, 3 μm high, 3 μm broad. Ascospores 42.5–65 × 10–15.5 µm (x =48 × 13.5 µm, n=30), overlapping uniseriate, light brown to brown, 5- septate, not constricted at septa, fusiform, with narrow ends, with slimy sheath on the ends, smooth-walled, lacking germ slits or appendages. Asexual morph: undetermined.

Notes: Type specimens are labeled with HT (holotype), ET (epitype), and PT (paratype). N/A: not available

Type:— CHINA. Guizhou Province, Kaili City, Leigongshan National Forest Park, on dead wood of bamboo, October 2014, Q.R. Li (GACP, Holotype), Ex-type culture GMBC307.

Other material examined: China, Guizhou Province, Qiandongnan Miao and Dong Autonomous Prefecture, Liping , on dead wood of bamboo, November 2018, Q. R. Li ( GACP QR0097 About GACP , no culture was obtained; DNA was extracted directly from asci and ascospores, paratype) .

Notes: Four species of Collodiscula have been reported so far ( Li et al. 2015a, Li et al. 2015b, Hyde et al. 2017). Ascospores of all four species are 1-4 segregated. Morphologically, C. tubulosa has 5- septate ascospores which obviously differs it from other species.
