Type species. Vasates populivagrans Keifer, 1953: 68 , 76.

Diagnosis. Body fusiform; scapular setae (sc) and tubercles on rear shield margin, directed posteriorly, frontal lobe acuminate; coxae I and coxae II each with 3 setae; legs with usual segmentation and setae, empodium less than 7-rayed; opisthosoma annuli differential dorsoventrally.

This genus consists of 158 species ( Amrine et al. 2003). Only 7 of these have been recorded from Southeast Asia.
