Type species. Floracarus calonyctionis Keifer, 1953: 69 .

Diagnosis. Body fusiform; prodorsal shield with short frontal lobe, scapular tubercles near rear shield margin, scapular setae directed backward; anterolateral setae on coxisternum I (1b) absent, prosternal apodeme absent; leg tibia fused with tarsus.

This genus consists of 18 species ( Amrine et al. 2003). Only one species has been recorded from Southeast Asia.
