Leococcus Kanda 1959: 239 . Type species: Leococcus erigeroneus Kanda View in CoL , by monotypy and original designation. Synonymy by Tang 1992: 388.

Genus diagnosis (adapted from Tang 1992, Williams et al. 2011 and Moghaddam & Watson 2022). Body of adult female on microscope slide broadly oval. Eye prominence usually as tall as or taller than length of first antennal segment. Antennae each with 8 or 9 segments; 0–2 (usually 0) intersegmental sensilla present between each of segments III–IV, IV–V and VI–VII. Legs well developed but slender; usually with 2 campaniform sensilla on each surface of each trochanter; claw digitules capitate, tarsal digitules either capitate or setose. Circulus present. Marginal cerarii numbering at least 18 pairs, each usually situated on a sclerotised plate and containing more than 2 lanceolate setae. Anterior and posterior pairs of ostioles present. Anal ring complete and bearing 6 setae. Trilocular pores on venter usually smaller than those on dorsum, and trilocular pores in cerarii at most only slightly larger than those on rest of dorsum. Multilocular disc pores and quinquelocular pores present or absent. Oral collar tubular ducts present on venter, sometimes also on dorsum. Dorsal surface of body with lanceolate or conical setae, ventral surface with flagellate setae.
