Xyleborinus attenuatus (Blandford, 1894) new to Nova Scotia, Ontario and Quebec

Note.

This adventive species, which was until recently known mainly by the synonym Xyleborinus alni Niisima, is a recent arrival in North America ( Mudge et al. 2001). It was found soon after initial detection in much of NE and NW USA and British Columbia and Prince Edward Island. Xyleborinus attenuatus feeds on woody angiosperms, and its pest-status remains unclear.
