Holotype M: Rorota, [ Island of Cayenne ], French Guiana ( MNHP *); coll. E. Abonnenc; 28 Nov. 1942; no. 655a.

Five specimens listed in the original publication were wrongly designated as paratypes by Dégallier & Claustre (1980: 143). The holotype of Cx. rorotaensis , originally deposited in the IPG, was transferred to the MNHP by Dégallier & Claustre (1980: 143).
