status

49. Culex menui Clastrier, 1971: 649 View in CoL (M, P).

Holotype M (with associated pupal exuviae): Maripasoula, [ Lawa River ], French Guiana ( MNHP); coll. J. Clastrier; 24 Aug. 1968; no. 3612-30.

Culex menui was synonymized with Cx. damascenoi Duret by Berlin & Belkin (1980: 42). Despite all of our efforts, the holotype, provisionally deposited in the personal collection of J. Clastrier ( Clastrier 1971: 653), was not found. We consider that this specimen is probably misplaced in the MNHP.
