Diagnosis (male). Anepisternum dorsally setulose, foretibia with three dorsal setae and ventral apical row of four strong setae ( Fig. 6D View FIGURE 6 ), left epandrial process with curved setulose process near base ( Fig. 25K View FIGURE 25 ).

Material examined. Holotype ♂, BOLIVIA: La Paz : 50km N Caranavi, 15.66ºS, 67.44ºW, 16–19.iv.2004, Malaise trap, 1100 m, B. Brown col. [LACM ENT 194295]. GoogleMaps

Description. Male. Body length, 2.7 mm. Head. Frons dark brown, sparsely setulose, with well-defined median furrow. Flagellomere 1 brown, conical elongate. Arista apical, about as long as flagellomere 1. Palpus brown. Gena with two setae. Thorax. Scutum, scutellum, and pleural regions dark brown; anepisternum dorsally setulose. Foreleg yellowish-brown, except forefemur posterior face brown; mid and hind leg light brown except mid and hind femur brown. Foretibia with three dorsal setae, anterodorsal row of strong setulae, and ventral apical row of four strong setae. Foremetatarsus with anterior bare excavation, anteroapical setulose process, group of setae at base of excavation, row of strong setulae at excavation dorsal margin, and strong seta at base of anteroapical process ( Fig. 9D View FIGURE 9 ). Foremetatarsus ratio 0.29. Posterior face of hind femur with narrow basoventral band of tiny blunt setulae ( Figs. 22C View FIGURE 22 ). Hind femur height/length ratio 0.38. Hind tibia with one dorsal seta in basal half. Wing ( Fig. 15J View FIGURE 15 ). Costa swollen, 0.36 of the wing length; R 2+3 vestigial; M 1 concave, curved posteriorly at apex; M 2 concave, CuA 1 - M 2 /M 2 -M 1 ratio 1.38; CuA 1 slightly sinuous. Halter white. Abdomen. Tergites dark brown, with shining pubescence. Hypopygium light brown ( Fig. 25K View FIGURE 25 ). Left epandrial process with curved setulose process near base. Margin of right lobe of hypandrium without projection. Hypoproct with two setae.

Distribution. Known from a single mid-elevation site in Bolivia.

Etymology. Named after Paula R. Riccardi, Chloropidae specialist, longtime friend and colleague with whom we have shared collecting trips in Brazil.
