Lectotype (Moldenke in Repert. Spec. Nov. Regni Veg. 43: 35. 1938): Herb. Clifford: 319, Petrea 1 (BM-000646189) .

Generitype of Petrea Linnaeus.

Current name: Petrea volubilis L. ( Verbenaceae ).

Note: Although some later authors (e.g. Jafri in Nasir & Ali, Fl. W. Pakistan 77: 16. 1974) have treated 781.1 (LINN) as the type, Moldenke’s 1938 choice clearly has priority.
