Gender. Feminine.

Type species. Mutilla separata Smith, 1879 (female), by original designation.

Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The male of the type species has not been recognized; the male of another species was associated and described by Williams et al., 2019: 98.

Distribution. Neotropical.
