Gender. Feminine.

Type species. Ephuta (Traumatomutilla) graviceps André, 1903 (female), designated by ICZN, 1959: 103 ac- cording to application by Mickel, 1957: 25.

Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.

Sex association. The male of the type species has not been recognized; the presumed males of other species were associated by Brothers & Lelej 2017: 56, 62, based on sex associations made from molecular-genetic data by Kevin Williams.

Distribution. Neotropical.
