Type species. Acrophotopsis eurygnathus Schuster, 1958 (male), by original designation (junior subjective synonym of Mutilla dirce Fox, 1899 (female), according to Pitts & Wilson 2009: 208).
Taxonomic history. Valid generic name.
Sex association. The female of the type species was associated and identified (as Mutilla dirce Fox, 1899: 257 ) by Pitts & Wilson 2009: 208.
