Distribution. Western Atlantic – east coast of the United States, Gulf of Mexico, Antilles, Venezuela, Surinam, and Brazil (from Pará to Santa Catarina) (Melo 1999).

Ecological notes. Estuaries, coral reefs, sandy bottoms, and Halodule meadows. From shallow waters to 22 m (Melo 1999).

Previous records in Bahia. Smith (1869), Moreira (1901), Gomes Corrêa (1972), Almeida et al. (2006).
