U. setariae-italicae is cosmopolitan, reported as widespread in Africa, the Americas, Asia, Europe, and Oceania (Farr et al. 2004; Hernandez et al. 2005a, b). It has been reported from Panama on Panicum maximum Jacq. (McGuire and Crandall 1967) as Uromyces leptodermus Syd. and P. Syd. This is the firstreportofU. setariae-italicae on M. minutiflora and on Paspalum sp. from Panama.
