Type material examined

Holotype female (on slide, QMBA), labeled: 1. "TYPE Hy/2471 A. A. Girault "; 2. " Queensland Museum 3624 Polynema   female aligherini   ". The holotype is in terrible condition, completely fragmented (except for the antennae [without the scapes], which are detached and more or less nicely mounted, although small air bubbles obscure the sensilla on the clavae).

Redescription

FEMALE (holotype). Face with a conspicuous, large pit near each torulus (as in Fig. 114 View FIGURES 114–117 ); pedicel shorter than F1, F1 subequal in length to F6 and slightly shorter than F5, F2 the longest funicle segment, F3 shorter than F2 and longer than F4, F4 slightly longer than F5, longitudinal sensilla on F4 (2), F5 (2) and F6 (2); clava a little longer than combined length of F5 and F6; mesoscutum smooth, forewing blade hyaline (only its basal half or so is available for examination), with 3 rows of setae behind marginal vein; petiole about 4 x as long as wide.

Description

MALE. Body smooth, mostly brown to dark brown, petiole and appendages light brown. Antenna ( Fig. 114 View FIGURES 114–117 ) with scape short and smooth. Pronotal collar with at least 5 strong setae on each lobe; notaular grooves U-shaped, meeting posteriorly; axilla with a strong seta; scutellum about as long as mesoscutum and without frenal foveae; metanotum divided mediolongitudinally; propodeal submedial carinae about 1/2 length of pro- podeum ( Fig. 115 View FIGURES 114–117 ). Forewing ( Fig. 116 View FIGURES 114–117 ) about 3.4 x as long as wide; marginal vein with 2 or 3 dorsal setae; longest marginal cilia about 2/5 x length of greatest forewing width, setae on anterior margin just beyond venation shorter and stronger; blade hyaline, with 2 to 4 rows of setae behind venation. Hind wing about 24 x as long as wide, disc hyaline; longest marginal cilia about 4 x greatest width of blade. Coxae smooth. Petiole about 2.7 x as long as wide. Genitalia ( Fig. 117 View FIGURES 114–117 ) peculiar, the digiti with 3 minute denticles.

Diagnosis

This species differs from all other known species of Boccacciomymar   in having a mediolongitudinally divided mesonotum.
