Type deposition. USNM .

Type data. Ex Monticola solitarius , Japan, Okinawa, Takabannare Shima .

Hosts. RODENTIA : Rattus andamanensis , R. rattus ; AVES: Monticola solitarius , Nyctyornis athertoni athertoni .

Distribution. China, Japan, Taiwan, Vietnam.

Remarks. According to Wen (1984f), the record of P. monticola in China ( Chen & Hsu 1958b) was based on a misidentification of P. heynemani . However Li et al. (1997) ignored that conclusion and simply reproduced the record of Chen & Hsu (1958b).
