Gahrliepia (Schoengastiella) lui Chen and Hsu, 1955: 116, figs. 22–27; 1958a: 406.

Schoengastiella lui: Li et al. 1997: 475 View in CoL , fig. 3-2-7.

Gahrliepia (Gateria) octosetosa Chen, Hsu and Wang, 1956: 149 , figs. 1–5, syn. nov.; Chen & Hsu 1958a: 406; Vercammen-Grandjean 1968: 116; Wen 1984a: 108; 1984b: 300; Li et al. 1997: 500, fig. 3-3-23.

Gahrliepia (Gahrliepia) octosetosa: Chau et al. 2007: 159 , fig. 76.

Type deposition. G. lui: ZSM; G. octosetosa: ZSM .

Type data. Ex Rattus losea View in CoL (syn. Rattus losea exiguus View in CoL ), China (exact locality is unknown).

Hosts. RODENTIA : Menetes berdmorei , Rattus losea , Rhizomys pruinosus .

Distribution. China, Vietnam.

Remarks. Wen (1984a), who examined the complete type series (holotype and paratype of poor quality) of G. lui, corrected its description and established its identity with G. octosetosa . He then synonymized G. lui with G. octosetosa , although the former name has a priority, recalling his alleged right as a first reviewer (ICZN Code, Recommendation 24A). However, the name G. lui is definitely available and was properly published before G. octosetosa ; thus, that action of the first reviewer is nullified (ICZN Code, Art. 24.2.5) and G. octosetosa should be considered as a synonym of G. lui. Besides that, the assumption that G. lui can get the status of nomen oblitum in future (Wen 1984a) is now impossible, since that name was afterwards cited by Li et al. (1997).
