Type deposition. W. prima: ZMMU (syntypes); W. mapaensis: ZSM ; W. iwasakii : no data.

Type data. W. prima : ex Hipposideros armiger , North Vietnam, Cao Bang Province; W. mapaensis : ex Hipposideros larvatus poutensis (syn. Hipposideros poutensis ), China, Kwangtung (Guangdong) Province, Mapa, Kukong; W. iwasakii : ex Hipposideros turpis , Japan, Ryukyu Islands, Loochoo Is., Ishigakijima.

Hosts. CHIROPTERA : Hipposideros armiger , H. fulvus , H. larvatus poutensis , H. turpis , Rhinolophus sp.

Distribution. China, Japan, Laos, Malaysia, Thailand, Vietnam.

Remarks. Whartonia mapaensis and W. iwasakii were synonymized with W. prima by Domrow (1962c), but Vercammen-Grandjean (1968) listed all these species as separate.
