Identification. Characterized by erect, trunk-like stems, 2-pinnate-pinnatifid leaves gradually tapering to a pin- natifid apex, and glabrous abaxial blade surfaces. Sori linear, indusiate, usually paired back to back along a single vein. It is often confused with Diplazium asplenioides (Kunze) C.Presl , which was not recorded in the area and differs by the presence of numerous hairs on abaxial blade surfaces and indusia.

Distribution and habitat. Widely distributed in South America. Terrestrial in forests.

Order Polypodiales (suborder Aspleniineae ), Thelypteridaceae Ching ex Pic.Serm.
