Platycephala Laporte, 1833: 73 (as subgenus of Coptosoma Laporte, 1833). Type species by subsequent designation ( Kuhlgatz 1901: 205): Platycephala metallica Laporte, 1833. Junior homonym of Platycephala Fallén, 1820 (Diptera). Synonymized by White (1839: 539).

Brachyplatys Boisduval, 1835: 627 . Type species by monotypy: Brachyplatys vanikorensis Boisduval, 1835 . Plataspis Westwood, 1837: 16. Unnecessary new name for Platycephala Laporte, 1833.
