Type species: Erythroneura gambiensis Ross, 1965

Dorsum yellow, brown or brownish-ochre. Color pattern absent or brown. Head produced anteriorly, as wide or wider than pronotum. Vertex with pair of dark preapical spots or with large median apical spot. Eyes black or blackish. Male antecypeus pale, concolorous with rest of face or its great part dark, brown. Lower or most part of frontoclypeus usually with two longitudinal streaks at sides, brown or brownish. Pronotum broad, anterior margin rounded and posterior margin concave. Fore wing with four apical cells, 1st apical cell with distinctly angulate base, 2nd quadrate, 3rd widened distally and 4th very small.

Abdominal apodemes small, narrow, extended dorsomesad or large, broad, extended to or beyond posterior margin of 3rd sternite.

Male genitalia. Pygofer lobe rounded or angulate or acutely produced. Pygofer with oblique dorsolateral internal ridge. Pygofer dorsal appendage simple or bifurcate far from base, usually movably articulated. Pygofer ventral appendage broadened strongly at base and than acutely narrowed towards apex. Subgenital plate expanded at baes, quite dark at apex, with several basal macrosetae on lateral surface and with marginal subbasal rigid setae restricted to basolateral angle. Style apex truncate and expanded, preapical lobe prominent. Aedeagal shaft with or without single apical process which is curved ventrad when present. Most species of genus Gambialoa often with pair of processes arising from base of aedeagal shaft, but some without them. Connective M-shaped; central lobe between two arms well developed, stem short or bifid, depressed.
