Kusala datianensis View in CoL Song & Li sp. nov.

( Figs. 1–10)

Vertex ( Fig. 1) yellowish, with a large orange red patch in the central part bordered with five brown distinct spots anteriorly. Eyes ( Fig. 1) blackish grey. Face ( Fig. 2) yellowish, with pair of black spots anterodorsad of antennal pits; anteclypeus brownish. Pronotum ( Fig. 1) milky yellow, with a large irregular orange brown patch madially, which divided by a whitish grey streak in midline. Scutellum ( Fig. 1) orange yellow, with tip and two small marks at its sides, blackish brown. Fore wing light white, patches stripped in Fig. 3, ochre-yellow or orange yellow; smoked apical pattern brownish; both ends of brochosome field orange brown.

Abdominal apodemes ( Fig. 4) long, extended beyond posterior margin of 4th sternite.

Male genitalia. Pygofer lobe ( Fig. 5) broad, with disitnct oblique dorsolateral internal ridge; basolateral setae distinctly enlarged, distal setae greatly enlarged. Subgenital plate ( Fig. 6) short, with row of macrosetae along upper margin, without marginal subbasal setae or setae poorly developed. Style ( Fig. 7) slender, preapical lobe prominent, cheliform. Aedeagal shaft ( Fig. 9) long, upper part thin, tubular, slightly curved dorsally, with a large apical process; another appendage arising from subapex of aedeagal shaft long and strong, expanded at base and tapering towards apex. Aedeagus ( Figs. 8, 9) with preatrium much shorter than shaft, dorsal apodeme broadened in lateral view, nearly triangular. Connective ( Fig. 10) without central lobe, two arms strong and stem short.

Specimen examined. Holotype, ♂, China, Hainan Province, Datian , 100 m, light trap, 9-VII-2007, coll. Yuehua Song. Paratypes: 1♂, 1♀, China, Hainan Province, Jianfeng Town , 800 m, light trap, 12-VII-2007, coll. Yuehua Song.

Measurement. Body length males 2.6~2.7 mm; female 2.7 mm.

Remarks. The new species is similar to K. maculata Dworakowska, 1981 , but can be distinguished from the latter by the following characters:

(1) the new species with a large appendage arising from subapex or near median of aedeagal shaft ( Fig. 9) and that of K. maculata arising from base of aedeagal shaft;

(2) the new species with preatrium ( Fig. 9) short and broad, but the latter preatrium absent;

(3) aedeagal shaft of K. maculata , whole tubular, the aedeagal shaft ( Fig. 9) of new species just with upper part tubular, but its lower part expanded distinctly.

Etymology. The new species is named after its locality.
