Lepidodermella squamata (Dujardin, 1841) View in CoL
Records from India. ANDHRA PRADESH: Visakhapatnam – Rao & Mohan (1977) ; WEST BENGAL: Sibpur— Howrah District, Bon Hoogly - North 24 Parganas District ( Sharma 1980) ; MEGHALAYA: Sharma & Sharma (1990).
Habitat (as in Indian records). Freshwater; among aquatic vegetation, occasionally marine.
Distribution. Cosmopolitan.
Remarks. In India, the species was found three times, but the morphometric data on the Indian specimens are very scanty (mostly limited to the total body length). More detailed data from living animals would be appreciated to confirm species identification on morphological ground.
Moreover, comparison on molecular genetics data would confirm or disprove the cosmopolitan distribution of the species.
