Records from India. KERALA: Cherai— Priyalakshmi & Menon (2012).
Habitat (as in Indian records). Marine, intertidal; well sorted medium sand, 10-20 cm below surface.
Distribution. Cosmopolitan.
Remarks. This species was recently reported from India by Priyalakshmi & Menon (2012) based on a cautious identification carried out by one of us (MAT) on formalin-fixed specimens. Future identification of living specimens would be advisable to better support the previous identification. This species was previously known as H. spinosus Mock, 1979 ; Hummon & Todaro (2010) clarified that the name spinosus was previously used as an infrasubspecific trinomial, and hence cannot be used as a specific epithet.
