Setopus abarbitus ( Visvesvara, 1963)
Records from India. MAHARASTRA: Nagpur— Visvesvara (1963) ; GENERAL RECORD: Naidu & Rao (2004).
Habitat (as in Indian records). Freshwater; shallow freshwater debris and bottom mud.
Distribution. India —known only from type locality.
Remarks. Originally described as Stylochaeta abarbita by Visvesvara (1963), and as such subsequently reported by Naidu & Rao (2004). However, the species was transferred to the genus Setopus by Kisielewski (1991), who also provided the change of the specific name ending from abarbita to abarbitus to comply with the masculine genus gender. The classification of the species proposed by Kisielewski (1991) is currently accepted (e.g., WoRMS 2021).
