Records from India. ANDHRA PRADESH: Kadapa (= Cuddapah), Palakol, Visakhapatnam— Dhanapathi (1976), Rao & Mohan (1977); ASSAM —Barundanga, Deepor bil, Dhaphlong, Muijan, Maghuri— Sharma & Sharma (2008); MAHARASTRA: Pune— Kulkarni et al. (2015); MEGHALAYA — Sharma & Sharma (1990); ODISHA: Cuttack, Sambalpur— Sharma (1987); WEST BENGAL: Kolkata (= Calcutta), Howrah— Sharma (1980); GEN- ERAL RECORD: Naidu & Rao (2004), Purushothaman (2017).
Habitat (as in Indian records). Freshwater; among filamentous algae and aquatic vegetation.
Distribution. Cosmopolitan.
Remarks. Following Schwank’s (1990) classification, Naidu & Rao (2004) in their review reported the species as belonging to the subgenus Euchaetonotus , which is invalid ( Kisielewski 1997). The specimens found in India seems to fit rather well the description of the species from e.g., Europe, with the possible exception of the ventral side for which details have not been reported or appear in contrast with what it is known for the taxon (see e.g., Sharma 1980 vs Schwank 1990).
