Records from India. ANDHRA PRADESH: Visakhapatnam— Rao & Mohan (1987); WEST BENGAL: Achipur in South 24 Parganas District— Sharma (1980); GENERAL RECORD: Naidu & Rao (2004), Purushothaman (2017).

Habitat (as in Indian records). Freshwater; among aquatic algae and vegetation.

Distribution. North America ( USA & Ontario), Europe and India.

Remarks. This is one of the smallest gastrotrich species (up to 82 μm in total length); it is characterized by eight, relatively long, barbed spines organized in two rows at mid-posterior trunk, with spines of the posterior row much longer than spines of the first row, reaching the tip of the furcal appendages. The specimens found in India match the original description. The name of the species appears misspelled in the legend of Fig. 61 of Naidu & Rao (2004).
