Beutelius mastersi ( MacLeay, 1871) , comb. nov.

Diagnosis. Antennae filiform. Prothorax about 0.7 times as long as wide. Elytra lateral margins with white ribbed scales from basal third to apex. Epipleura with white ribbed scales from apical third to apex. Male protibia without setose excavation. Parameres with apical notch wide ( Figs 91–92 ).

Description. Length: 7.5–12.0 mm. Body elongate, 2.7 times as long as wide (BL/EW), clothed with dark brown and white ribbed scales; white scales covering the ventral surface and legs, dorsal surface with white scales concentrated on the anterior part of the head, base of the pronotum, scutellar shield, elytral sides and humeri, apical third of elytral suture and forming a transverse band along middle. Head subquadrate, median length about 1.1 times as long as greatest width (HL/HW). Temples present. Gulamentum anteriorly slightly depressed to accommodate labial and maxillary palps. Antennae filiform, shorter than head and prothorax combined; antennomere length/width ratios (♂), 1: 1.2, 2: 1.0, 3: 1.9, 4: 1.1, 5: 1.0, 6: 1.0, 7: 1.0, 8: 1.0, 9: 1.0, 10: 1.0, 1 1: 1.4.

Prothorax about 0.7 times as long as wide (PL/PW); notopleural and pleurosternal sutures present; prosternal process extended between procoxae ( Fig. 47 ). Elytra about 1.9 times as long as wide (EL/EW) and 4.5 times as long as pronotum (EL/PL), lateral margins with white ribbed scales from basal third to apex; epipleura broad, with about 4 rows of ribbed scales. Basal third of protibia in males without setose excavation, some females ( Figs 6, 7 , 26 , 31 , SAMA-25-038603) with protibia with a patch of black setae near basal third. Protarsus (♂) 0.7 times as long as protibia (TAL/TIL). Mesotarsus 1.1 times as long mesotibia (TAL/TIL). Metatarsus 1.6 times as long as metatibia (TAL/TIL). Parameres with widely open notch near apex; apex of penis broad and membranous ( Figs 91–92 ).

Comments. Neboiss (1968) added some peculiar notes on disappearance and reappearance of the type specimen from the ASM.
