Type material. Holotype, female (slide number NJAUAcariEri756, marked Holotype), from Quercus chenii (Fagaceae) , Wuhan City, Hubei Province, P. R. China, 30°58'07" N, 114°41'20" E, 5 October 2006, coll. Zi-Wei Song. Paratypes, 2 males and 1 nymph (slide number NJAUAcariEri756) with the same data as holotype.

Relation to host. Vagrant on leaf surface. No damage to the host was observed.

Etymology. The specific designation chenius is from the species name of the host plant, chenii .

Differential diagnosis. This species is similar to C. regiae Xue, Song & Hong, 2006b , but can be differentiated from the latter by scapular setae projecting up from the axial of body (scapular setae projecting centrad in C. regiae ), coxal plates smooth (coxal plates with short lines in C. regiae ), first three dorsal annuli broken at center (dorsan annuli continuous in C. regiae ).
