Material examined. AUSTRAL ISLANDS. Bass Islands: MNHN IU- 2016-9501, 1 female (TL 86 mm), E of Rapa, 27°37.09'S, 144°15.42'W, 800–850 m, BENTHAUS stn CP 1891, 7 November 2002.

Remarks. The present specimen, reported by Ahyong (2012a), is a juvenile, exhibiting whitish overall colouration with a pink abdomen posteriorly and red pereopodal setae. Adults are uniformly deep-red overall.

Distribution. Both sides of the Atlantic Ocean and western Pacific from the Philippines, Australia, New Zealand, Guam, Tonga, Hawaiian Islands, the Marquesas and the Austral Islands; 600–1519 m ( Manning 1991; Ahyong 2012a).
