Rhynchomys soricoides Thomas 1895 , Ann. Mag. Nat. Hist., ser. 6, 16: 160.

Type Locality: Philippines, N Luzon Isl, Mountain Province, Mt Data, 8000 ft (2440 m).

Vernacular Names: Northern Luzon Rhynchomys.

Distribution: Greater Luzon Faunal Region; recorded only from Mt Data in the Central Cordillera ( Largen, 1985; Sanborn, 1952 a; Thomas, 1895) and Kalinga Province (Rickart, in litt.), but probably occurs elsewhere in montane forest formations in N Luzon.

Conservation: IUCN – Lower Risk (lc).
