Type data: This species was described based on five female specimens collected in Phoenix, United States by Horace Greeley Griffith (1857‒1899), an American doctor and coleopterist ( Lindsley, 1916). The five specimens that com- posed the type series were found at ANSP but only one has the original Fox’s identification label. Type locality: United States: Arizona state: Phoenix.

Comments: Centris pallida was studied intensively during the second half of the twentieth century. Much of the reproductive aspects of this species are known thanks to the pioneering work of the American behavioral ecolo- gist John Alcock (see Alcock, 2013 and the references therein). Alcock’s contributions have served as the basis for studies on the mating behavior of other species of bees, wasps and insects in general. This species was correctly interpreted by Snelling (1966, 1974, 1984) and Moure et al. (2007).
