OAXACA: Valle Nacional : Micrurus diastema ( Shoop & Corkum, 1982) .

Specimens deposited: USNPC (76375) (H).

Notes: In a phylogenetic analyses of the order Proteocephalidea, De Chambrier et al. (2004) evaluated the structure of the clade Proteocephalus and showed that Proteocephalus species are mainly parasites of Palaearctic fishes. This species was transferred to Ophiotaenia by Schmidt (1986).
