Notes: Originally recorded as Ostiolum complexum ( Martínez-Villarreal, 1969) ; comparison of DNA sequences of specimens assigned to Haematoloechus complexus , (based on morphological grounds) from distinct populations from Mexico and USA, suggest that the Mexican populations may represent a distinct species (León-Règagnon, 2003).
