Zoogeographic element. European.
Distribution. Europe, from Scandinavia to Southern Europe (Italian mainland, Sicily), eastward to Ukraine and Asia Minor.
Distribution in Romania. Epigeal records. Oradea (ET61), Mehadia (FQ07) (Kuthy 1896); Spinuş (ET82) (Fleischer 1888; as Ptomaphagus nigricans ); Comana (MJ39) (Montandon 1906); Sighişoara (LM21), Turnu Roşu (KL85) (all: Petri 1912); Bucegi (Valea Jepi) (LL81/82) (Ieniştea 1941, 1956). Hypogeal records. P. l ui Imbre (2147/5) (FQ17) (Elmer 1921); P. de sub Şerban (2147/3) (FQ16/17) (Decou 1964); P. Casian (5110/20) (PK12) (Nitzu 2002) ( Fig. 11 View FIGURE 11 ).
