Distribution. Europe, Asia Minor, Mongolia and North Africa.
Distribution in Romania. Epigeal records. Oradea (ET61), Sibiu (KL77), Mehadia (FQ07) (all: Kuthy 1896); Spinuş (ET82) (Fleischer 1888; as Ptomaphagus coracinus ); Braşov (LL85), Sighişoara (LM21), Turnu Roşu (KL85), Borsec (LN80) (all: Petri 1912); Bucegi (LL82) (Ieniştea 1941); Giumaläu Mt. (LN85) (Nitzu et al. 2009). Hypogeal records. P. din Valea Bibartului (3152/1) (FS71) (Decou 1964) ( Fig. 12 View FIGURE 12 ).
Ecological status. Trogloxene.
