Type Locality: Brazil, Mato Grosso, Cuiaba (= Cuyaba).
Vernacular Names: Big Naked-backed Bat.
Synonyms: Pteronotus (Pteronotus) centralis Goodwin 1942 ; Pteronotus (Pteronotus) suapurensis J. A. Allen 1904 .
Distribution: S Veracruz ( Mexico) south to Peru, NE and C Brazil, Bolivia, Guyana, and French Guiana.
Conservation: IUCN 2003 and IUCN / SSC Action Plan (2001) – Lower Risk (lc).
Discussion: Subgenus Pteronotus . Includes suapurensis ; see Smith (1977).
