Taxilejeunea setchellii Pearson (1924: 146) View in CoL .
Type: OCEANIA. Samoa, “Aua-Aofono Trail”, 1920, W. A. Setchell 1161a (isotype UC!).
Note: The isotype of T. setchellii deposited in herbarium UC and collected by W. A. Setchell was numbered as 1161a whereas in the original description ( Pearson 1924), the collection number was 1161. The holotype, perhaps numbered as 1161, could not be located. The prominently horned perianths (numerous), the presence of ocelli, and the dark color of the plants in the isotype collection indicate that this species does not belong to Taxilejeunea / Lejeunea but is a member of Ceratolejeunea Jack & Stephani (1892: 16) . The specimen needs further study, however, because of the possibility of an earlier name for this species in the genus Ceratolejeunea . Moreover, in the protologue only young gynoecia without perianth were described and illustrated; which closely resembled L. sordida .
