Austinia Buril & Simões View in CoL gen. nov.
New genus morphologically related to Merremia with which it shares globose stigmatic lobes, anthers twisted after anthesis and 4-valvular capsules, but differing in the capituliform rather than cymose inflorescences, presence of large bracts rather than inconspicuous, unequal rather than nearly equal sepals.
The genus is monospecific, and distributed in Eastern Brazil.
