Xylophylla longifolia Linnaeus , Mantissa Plantarum Altera: 221. 1771.
"Habitat in India orientali." RCN: 2151.
Lectotype (Stauffer in Mitt. Bot. Mus. Univ. Zürich 213: 222. 1959): [icon] " Xylophyllos Ceramica " in Rumphius, Herb. Amboin. Auct.: 19, t. 12. 1755. - Epitype (Stauffer in Mitt. Bot. Mus. Univ. Zürich 213: 222. 1959): Papua New Guinea. Morobe District, Wau, Karissa Creek, 25 Mar 1953, B. W. Taylor 4780 (LAE; iso- A, BRI, BO, L).
Current name: Exocarpos longifolius (L.) Endl. View in CoL ( Santalaceae ).
Note: There has been some confusion between this name and Phyllanthus epiphyllanthus L. However, Stauffer (in Mitt. Bot. Mus. Univ. Zürich 213: 221. 1959) provided a detailed treatment, and concluded that E. longifolius is the correct name for this taxon. He (p. 222) indicated Rumphius, Herb. Amboin. 7: t. 12 as the type, and also indicated a neotype from New Guinea. The Rumphius plate is original material for the name and is accepted as the lectotype, with Stauffer’s neotype interpreted as an epitype under Art. 9.8.
