Distribution and habitat. Distribution in Iraq: Tigris basin.—General distribution: Middle East: upper Sirwan drainage, Tigris basin, Kurdistan ( Iraq and Iran).—Habitat: This species occurs in moderately fast-flowing waters of streams and rivers with mud or gravel substrate and low pollution level. Freshwater.
Economic importance. No commercial importance.
Conservation. Conservation status in Iraq: Unknown.—IUCN: NE (2023).—Threats: Unknown.—High sensitivity to human activities.—Keystone species.—Decline status: Unknown.—High priority for conservation action.
