Genus OREDA White, 1846 View in CoL

The discovery of a new species of this genus on Guam is of considerable zoogeographic interest. The genotype and one other species have been recorded from New Zealand, one species, 0. dubia, was described by Lea from New South Wales (although this species is listed in the index to Coleopterorum Catalogus part 151, the name was omitted from the list on page 58), and a fourth species was described by Heller from New Caledonia. There are now five known species of the genus. Further collecting, or the study of existing collections, from the intervening areas should reveal other species.
