Diagnosis — Idiosoma lateral margins convex, largest at level of opisthosomal ventral seta I (d), giving the body a barrel­like or bulged aspect. Empodium 6­rayed; coxae I coarsely granulated.

Female (n = 6)­Body elongate, 179 (155–185), 64 (55–66) wide at mid length or level of opisthosomal seta I (d),giving the idiosoma a slight barrel­shaped aspect. Gnathosoma: basal seta 2 (2); antapical seta 4 (3–4); chelicerae 16 (15–16). Prodorsal shield 27 (25– 27), 35 (30–35) wide; frontal lobe 3 (3), rounded. Shield design consisting of one pair of median lines extending over entire shield length and a few lateral, short lateral lines. Laterally coarsely granulated. Shield tubercles on rear shield margin, 22 (21–26)apart; scapular seta (sc) 10 (10–11), directed backwards. Legs: leg I 26 (24–27); femur 9 (6–9), femoral seta (bv) 9 (8–9); genu 4 (3–4), genual seta (l") 20 (19–22); tibia 6 (4–6), tibial seta (l') 4 (3–4), basal; tarsus 5 (4–6), dorsal seta (ft') 7 (7–9), lateral seta (ft") 22 (17–23), unguinal seta (u') 4 (3–5), solenidion 7 (6–7), empodium 6 (5–6), 6­rayed. Leg II 24 (22– 24); femur 7 (5–8), bv 8 (6–9); genu 3 (3), l" 11 (10–11); tibia 4 (4–5); tarsus 6 (4–6), ft' 5 (5–6), ft" 24 (20–24), u' 3 (3–4), solenidion 6 (6–7), empodium 5 (5–6), 6­rayed. Coxigenital area: coxae I with coarse granules; coxae II with a few granules. Sternal line 6 (5–6). Coxa seta I (1b) 11 (9–11), 10 (9–11) apart; coxal seta II (1a) 23 (23–28), 8 (6–8) apart; coxal seta III (2a) 40 (40–42), 22 (19–24) apart. Coxisternal area with 3 (3–4) faint annuli. Genitalia 20 (17–20) wide, 13 (10–13) long; genital seta (3a) 12 (10–13). Epigynum with 8 (8–10) longitudinal ribs. Opisthosoma evenly arched in cross section. Lateral seta (c2) 24 (18–24), on annulus 4 (3–4) from genitalia rear margin. Ventral seta I (d) 49 (45–49), 40 (30–40) apart, on annulus 13 (12–14); ventral seta II (e) 13 (10–13), 21 (17–21) apart, on annulus 26 (23–26); ventral seta III (f) 26 (21–26), 26 (23–26) apart, on annulus 45 (40–47) or 6 (6)th from rear. Total ventral annuli 50 (47–52), microtuberculate; total dorsal annuli 63 (56–63), microtuberculate, microtubercles fading on rear dorsal annuli. Caudal seta (h2) 90 (75–92); accessory seta (h1) 3 (3–4).

Male (n = 3)­Smaller than female, 136–158, 51 wide. Gnathosoma: antapical seta 3– 4; chelicera 12–13. Prodorsal shield 25–27, 28–29 wide, sc 8–9, 22 apart. Frontal lobe 2– 3. Legs: leg I 22–24; femur 4–6, bv 6–7; genu 3–4, l" 19–20; tibia 4–5, l' 4; tarsus 5, ft' 5–7, ft" 16–18, u' 3–4, solenidion 5–7, empodium 5–6, 6­rayed. Leg II 21–22; femur 5–6, bv 5– 6; genu 3, l" 6; tibia 4; tarsus 5, ft' 5, ft" 15–19, u' 2–3, solenidion 6, empodium 6, 6­rayed.

Coxigenital area: sternal line 6; 1b l0, 9 apart; 1a 18–19, 6–8 apart; 2a 25–30, 17–18 apart. Coxisternal area with 3 faint annuli. Genitalia 16–19 wide, 10–14 long, smooth; 3a 9–11. Opisthosoma: c 2 12–18, on annulus 1–2; d 44–45, 28–31 apart, on annulus 7–10; e 10–11, 16–18 apart, on annulus 16–20; f 19–22, 14–21 apart, on annulus 31–36 or 6th from rear. Total ventral annuli 36–41; total dorsal annuli 51–54, microtuberculate; h2 66–69, h1 4.

Type material — female holotype, 21 female and 3 male paratypes, from Haematoxylon campechianum L., Caesalpiniaceae, Anse Bertrand , Guadeloupe, 23 Oct. 2003, coll. J. Etienne, on 13 microscopic preparations.

Relation to host — The mites cause tunnel galls on the leaf upper surface ( Fig. 3 View FIGURE 3 ). The galls are up to 3 mm long, trichomatose ("hairy") and have a middorsal longitudinal slit opening. They occur appressed to the leaf ribs or on the leaf blade. Up to 4 galls have been observed on one leaflet.

Etymology — The specific designation doliolum , from the Latin diminutive of dolium, a barrel shaped cask for wine, refers to the general body shape of the female.
