Type material. BRAZIL, Amazonas, Purupuru, Estrada Nunes de Melo Km. 8, holotype male, 30.XI.1998, without collector’s name ( INPA); 22 paratypes male, same locality and date of holotype ( INPA); Silves (Caraça), paratype male, 30.VI.1997, without collector’s name ( INPA).

Etymology. ampla Latin , refers to the wide aedeagal apodeme of the male.

Diagnosis. Radial fork situated apical to medial fork; apex of paramere with apical digitiform process; distiphallus with parallel shafts; aedeagal apodeme wide at base, narrow at apex, ending after anterior margin of gonocoxal bridge.

Description. Male. Eyes separated by 1 facet diameter; interocular suture Y shaped; antenna with 14 flagellomeres; scape cylindrical, 1.5X length of pedicel ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 2 – 8 ); pedicel spherical ( Fig. 3 View FIGURES 2 – 8 ); flagellomeres nodiform, asymmetrical ( Fig. 4 View FIGURES 2 – 8 ), 14th smaller than preceding and with apiculis ( Fig. 5 View FIGURES 2 – 8 ); ascoids not visible. Palpus formula = 1.0:3.1:3.1:4.3. Wing with short Sc; radial fork apical to medial fork ( Fig. 6 View FIGURES 2 – 8 ). Male terminalia ( Figs. 7, 8 View FIGURES 2 – 8 ): sternite 9 U­shaped; post­hypandrial plate 0.5X length of gonocoxite. Gonostyle with pointed apex 1.5X length of gonocoxite. Sternite 10 triangular, base wide. Tergite 10 narrow. Cercus with 9 apical tenacula with rounded tips. Apex of parameres ending after apex of aedeagus. Aedeagal apodeme racquet shaped, anterior wider, ending after anterior margin of gonocoxal bridge.

Distribution. Brazil, Amazonas (Purupuru, Silves).
