Type:— COLOMBIA. ‘ Tolima: municipio de Santa Isabel, Cordillera Central, camino del paso de la quebrada del África, [4°45’N 75°22’W], 4100–4300 m, 7 Feb 1980 (fl., fr.), S. Díaz-Piedrahita & R. Jaramillo 1914 ’ (holotype: COL 000084428!).

Note — Senecio piedrahitae Calvo & Ávila has been described recently from the Cordillera Central of Colombia. Although the authors pointed to the close morphological similarity of S. piedrahitae to S. otophorus var. christophori ( Calvo & Ávila 2016) , which to our knowledge is confined to the Cordillera Oriental of Colombia, we assume a greater similarity of S. piedrahitae to S. subinvolucratus .
