Distribution and Habitat ( Fig. 5 View FIGURE 5 ): — Senecio subperandinus occurs in the páramos of Colombia and Ecuador, at elevations of 2700–4800 m.
Note: — Cuatrecasas separated Senecio quitensis from S. superandinus by the shape and arrangement of leaves (leaves ovate or elliptic-oblong, vs triangular and non-imbricated in S. superandinus ); however, these characters are part of the variability observed in the specimens examined. Therefore, Senecio quitensis is here treated as a synonym of S. superandinus .
