Conserved type (Barrie & Todzia in Taxon 40: 652. 1991): Mexico. Veracruz, Zacuapan, Sulphur Spring, Dec 1906, Purpus 2206 (F; iso- US).

Generitype of Tetracera Linnaeus.

Current name: Tetracera volubilis L. ( Dilleniaceae ).
